CEO & Principal
Mark Mazzie is CEO and Principal of the Center for Professional Innovation and Education (CfPIE). In this role, he both recruits and manages the industry-active course instructors from around the world who help improve the quality of training and educational services available to the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical-device industries through the hundreds of courses that they present each year.
As a regular speaker at life-science conferences; Mr. Mazzie has long been an advocate for helping professionals remain up-to-date on industry trends, improve productivity within their organizations, and increase their technical skills. He is also a very active participant in such national organizations as the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society and the Society for Clinical Data Management—as well as regional organizations that include BioOhio, MichBio, and Pennsylvania Bio.
Before he founded CfPIE in 2001, Mr. Mazzie held Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO) positions for both the Investment Banking division of Morgan Stanley and Barnett Educational Services. Prior to joining Barnett, he served as Director of Business Practices for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. Before this, he was a faculty member in the Political Science department of Arizona State University—as well as Director of the University’s Data Lab.
Between 1982 and 1989, Mr. Mazzie held a number of government positions, including an appointment as Chief of Staff for Congressman George C. Wortley of New York and a term as City Clerk in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mr. Mazzie received his Master’s degree from Harvard University and his Bachelor of Science degree from Suffolk University.
President & Principal
Lynda Helton is President and Principal of the Center for Professional Innovation and Education (CfPIE). In this role, she is responsible for all of the CfPIE’s financial management and oversight. She directs all financial and business-planning activities, including the organization’s overall budgeting process, development of course policies, registration management, and the development discount policies for affiliated groups.
In day-to-day operations, Ms. Helton ensures that over seventy industry-active course instructors are fully prepared to deliver classroom and on-site training programs to members of the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical-device industries all around the world. This includes management of the CfPIE administrative staff and oversight of CfPIE training locations in Malvern, Pennsylvania; Los Angeles, California; and Berlin, Germany.
In her role with CfPIE, Ms. Helton leverages significant experience in healthcare and event planning—coupled with her knowledge of both clinical and regulatory processes. Before officially joining CfPIE in 2004, Ms. Helton was a registered nurse licensed in Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania from 1993 to 2004; specializing in CCU/ICU, hospice care, home health care, and case management.
Between the years of 1973 and 1986, Ms. Helton served as Executive Assistant for the global management-consulting firm of Bain & Company in Boston, Massachusetts. From 1977 to 1979, she also acted as Convention and Meeting Planner for the National Federation of Business and Professional Women in Washington, DC. She received her Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN RN) from Scottsdale Community College, Scottsdale, Arizona—where she received an Academic Achievement Award.
Director of Operations
Nathan Krawzyk is the Director of Operations for the Center for Professional Innovation and Education (CfPIE). As Director of Operations, he oversees business growth and profitability, looking for innovative ways to reduce expenses and ensure CfPIE continues to be a leader in the ever-evolving medical and pharmaceutical training sector. His day-to-day tasks include coordinating with course directors on updates to upcoming courses, reviewing and overseeing physical course material delivery, networking to discover new course directors, ensuring course material is current, and researching new ways to deliver exceptional training experiences, both online and in-person.
Nathan brings an agile and modern perspective to the CfPIE team. His past role in the engineering field saw him attend corporate-wide business strategy and marketing meetings. Additionally, during his time at Kleinfelder, he worked directly with the CFO to develop an ongoing strategy to improve young employee retention as the company sought to better understand employee expectations and develop a modernized hiring strategy centered around attracting new talent.
Nathan has spent the majority of his professional career working in the civil engineering field, where he served as a bridge designer and inspector for an engineering project management firm and oversaw the construction and permitting for multimillion dollar residential developments. He obtained his professional license in 2014 after gaining four years of active experience in engineering, and intends to maintain this license throughout his tenure at CfPIE.
Nathan has worked for top engineering firms, including Gannett Fleming, Hawbaker Engineering, Kleinfelder, and Kelly & Close Engineers. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 2008.
Director of Marketing
Emily Krawzyk is the Director of Marketing for the Center for Professional Innovation and Education (CfPIE). She directly oversees the marketing strategy for CfPIE, developing strategies for lead generation, marketing channel optimization, and the roll-out of a marketing automation engine. She also handles in-person experiences for CfPIE training courses, providing customer service, event planning and design, and on-site meeting management and coordination.
Emily is continuously working to ensure that all training experiences through CfPIE are designed around customer success. Emily’s past experience in customer success roles ensures that she is able to oversee events, focus on the effective delivery of training best practices, and center events around providing an exceptional experience.
Emily has developed a strong background in customer service and success with her roles at Morgan Properties and CfPIE. She earned a Bachelor of Arts, Art History from Pennsylvania State University in 2008.
