Kenneth A. Richman, Ph.D., is Professor of Philosophy and Health Care Ethics at MCPHS University (also known as the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences) in Boston. As Chair of the MCPHS Institutional Review Board for over 16 years, Ken has reviewed more than 1,200 research proposals, advised hundreds of researchers, and delivered training to scores of students and faculty members. Research ethics is also an area of his own research. He has published qualitative research on research ethics with vulnerable communities, as well as theory-based articles on ethics and informed consent, research with autistic participants, and other topics.
Ken has conducted ethics evaluations and training for clients such as L'Oréal USA, the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, and E4—Eclipse Ethics Education Enterprises. He has delivered talks to industry and professional meetings on the basics of moral reasoning, ethics and product claims in the cosmetics industry, explanation in proteomic science, ethical issues raised by artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, and other topics.
